We have 4 belt tests per year. Students have two tests for each belt. For example, a student will test for their orange stripe belt in one test, then the next test will be for their orange belt. In Kyokushin Karate we have 10 kyu starting from orange belt and counts down numerically toward the shodan (black belt). For example Orange belt is "Jukyu" and the next level "KyuKyu" which is orange belt with a stripe. As shown in color on the side, this continues until a karate ka achieves their black belt. However, once the karate-ka achieves their brown belt they must train for at least a year before they can challenge for their black belt. In order to challenge for the next belt students must demonstrate their dedication to training and improving their skills. Our testing program starts with : Kihon: Warm up, stances, techniques, flexibility, endurance, conditioning. Ido Keiko Kata: Forms Kumite: Sparring |
